Tuesday, March 17, 2009 Newsflash: Introducing Alexis!
We just updated the store with 20 fabulous vintage pieces, and have even more coming tomorrow! Modeling them is our newest NASTY GAL, Alexis.
Isn’t she gorgeous?
Tuesday, March 10, 2009 Newsflash: Fluttering And Flowing
As you know, NASTY GAL loves our vintage clothes. But we also like discovering and showcasing up and coming/cool/talented brands and designers. Below are few dresses that just hit the store I think you’ll love!
The Silk Knot Dress by Interlud proves that sometimes, it’s all in the details. Their new twist on classic cocktail dress includes knotted detailing on the shoulder and across the bodice with a cobalt blue racer back. This would be sure to grab attention at any party!
The 1960′s inspired Nine To Five Dress by Dear Creatures is a unique and super cute alternative to the simple sundress. Pockets, exposed zipper, classic shift dress shape and a bow tie? Sign me up!
Another Dear Creatures favorite, the Priscilla Dress features a babydoll silhouette, ruffled collar, sweetheart bodice and of course, pockets!
ArynK is another new designer in the store. We love the cowl neck and fluttery sleeves as much as we love the actual colors and patterns on this silk Maribelle Dress.
Another fabulously printed silk dress by ArynK featuring a psychedelic seashell print. Perfect for spring and summer! We call this one the Seashore Dress.
Wednesday, March 4, 2009 Newsflash: Stylist Intern/Assistant Wanted!
We are seeking a self-motivated, organized, patient, and fashion-loving individual to join our team as an INTERN. This position is great for individuals who want to get exposure and experience in assembling and styling looks on a live model. We aim for an upbeat but high fashion aesthetic, with as much influence from the street as the runways. Intern should be well versed on current trends, runway shows, and fashion blogs, and will be involved with the buying of styling accessories as well. We need someone who can learn fast, put in 110%, and has an impeccable eye for detail.
*Steam, inspect, and prepare clothing for shoots
*Assemble outfits quickly in a fast-paced environment
*Assist photographer during shoots, and adjust clothing on models as necessary
*Assist models getting into and out of outfits while keeping clothing clean and away from floor
*Clip clothing to fit models as needed without compromising the look of the garment
*Work closely with CEO/stylist and be able to emulate current style aesthetic
In order for us to determine whether you will be a good fit, please send over a portfolio of looks — either past work you’ve done as a stylist or photos of your own personal style. If neither of these apply, please link us to your fashion blog or send a collection of fashion or runway photos that have you inspired at the moment! All responses can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you in advance!
Tuesday, March 3, 2009 Behind The Scenes: The New HQ
We’re almost set up here in the new Berkeley space, with nearly everything hung up and the photo studio already in action. As you can see, we have TONS of amazing vintage that still needs to be photographed (nothing on those racks is on the website yet!), so expect some big updates ASAP. What you see is only about a quarter of the total space we have (loft, holler!) and I’m hoping to fill it up with more glorious vintage over the coming months.
Sunday, March 1, 2009 Sophia’s Corner: Movin’ On Up (And In)
That’s right. We’re moving to a bigger, better, and brighter location in Berkeley, CA. When, you ask? Tomorrow. We’re growing fast, and had to jump on this amazing space while we could. San Francisco Bay Area locals can look forward to by-appointment shopping with us very soon, and a showroom/boutique hopefully shortly after. Pictures are on the way… Are you excited yet?
