This weekend, hundreds of Californians headed to Palm Springs in the name of aquatic party hopping. Splash House, which is basically Coachella with water, attracted an eclectic group of music lovers– 90% of them dressed in platforms and neon bathing suits, 100% with a tropical drink in hand. We sent a few of our Nasty Gals to take a dip!

Airbnb-ing Across California

The sun is setting late, the nights warm, and adventures a calling—all tell-tale signs of summer on the horizon, and in turn, roadtrips a brewin’. As a born and bred Californian, I firmly believe the Sunshine State is the prettiest state in this fair nation. From top to bottom there are insanely beautiful natural surroundings, A+ weather, nice-ass people, and the finest Mary-Jane in all the land. To commemorate the start of summer I’ve rounded up some of the coolest Airbnb hideaways in the state—all under $200/night. Round up your crew, make some kick-ass playlists and grab a disposable camera—adventuring commences now!—Marissa Klurstein, Content Assistant

Boardwalk Empire

When it comes to colorful carnival rides, overpriced glitter hats, and territorial psychics, the Santa Monica Pier delivers an eclectic array of options. With memories of that cool pier from Rocket Power in mind, Marissa and I dressed up in our loudest prints and became boardwalk tourists for the day. Since we’re huge fans of wearable knickknacks, we headed to the souvenir shops in search of the oddest and most out-there finds. When we stumbled upon a body shirt with built-in belly button ring, we knew we had struck gold. From then on, Marissa and I accessorized ourselves with every object in sight (a giant pink dinosaur that we didn’t actually win, a mini key chain flask filled with blue ICEE, and piles of friendship bracelets, just to name a few), which served as indelible memories from our seriously-fun-but-hot-as-fuck day. —Chris Rellas

A Visit To For Love & Lemons HQ

LoveLemons_4

We’ve been huge fans of For Love & Lemons for quite some time now, but when they launched their lingerie line Skivvies last fall, we officially needed to get to know the faces behind one of our favorite LA brands. As it turns out, founders Gillian Mahin and Laura Hall are in a super chill space Downtown (near us!), so we asked them if we could stop by to check out their digs, and take a peek at their spring Skivvies collection IRL. They very (very!) nicely obliged, and their lingerie designer Keenan Evans even chimed in to tell us how much work actually goes into building a bra. (Spoiler alert: It’s a lot.)

Sunset For One

When you’re down for some serious me-time, what’s better than lying on a blanket and watching the sunset surrounded by your favorite things? Well, nothing really, which is why we busted out our old school Razor, some killer vinyls, and salty snacks for a one-woman hang sesh in the California mountains. Solo adventure, commence!

Backstage Hangs With Sky Ferreira

1

Guys, it’s a really big week for Sky Ferreira. Today, her highly-anticipated (as in, several years in the making) album Night Time, My Time was officially released, and—after weeks of forced vocal rest—she kicked off her postponed tour on Sunday at the El Rey Theatre in L.A. Lucky for us, we got to catch up with Sky right before her performance to talk about style inspiration, walking in her first NYFW show, and, of course, dudes.

Homecoming Babes

Let us clue you in on something: It’s a total myth that you need a date for the dance. Sure, if you’re just there to make out under the disco ball, then by all means—go for it. But if you want to dance, scream, laugh, raise hell, and have the best night of your life, leave the dudes at home. This homecoming, the girls just wanna have fun.

My Moment With The Man Repeller

photo-5

For any of you that know me, (probably a grand total of two people—my best friend and my boss), you are aware that I love Leandra Medine. So much so, that I got a little fangirl-y last night at Leandra’s book signing event at Barney’s in Los Angeles. For the last nine months, I have been patiently awaiting the arrival of Seeking Love, Finding Overalls, Leandra’s debut book, which she describes as “…a love story sprinkled over different kinds of denim.” You can only imagine how thrilled I was when I found out that she would be holding a book signing at The Grove.  Sophia (#GIRLBOSS) attended the event as well, since she and Leandra are pals, and as a Professional Dream-Fulfiller (which will be added to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary in 2014 if any of you were wondering…jk) Sophia introduced me to Leandra, and then it got even better: I got to conduct a mini interview with her. Of course, I was way too indecisive in choosing what the heck to ask her in the one-and-a-half minute time slot I had, so I’m warning you the questions are a little, well, random. Regardless, I was so excited to chat with my idol about the Circus of Fashion, boogers, and Birkenstocks.

What about you? Who would bring the inner fangirl out in you? -Marissa
