Currently On Repeat

This week is all about the songs that you just want to listen to over and over again. So here’s what we were playing on repeat in the studio while shooting the upcoming May lookbook! Just don’t blame us when you have TLC’s “Creep” stuck in your head for the next few days…

Cool Cat

You asked for it! Following up on last week’s smoky eye, we are sending you off to the weekend with the one-and-only cat eye that we used this week on Chrishell. This look is an essential go-to – it’s super easy to apply after a practice session. Once you’ve mastered your talents from the perfect line to the dramatic swing, you’ll never want to go without it. Definitely the epitome of a cool cat.

Denim Daze

With summer solstice on our heels, we always reach for the one year-round closet staple that never fails: denim in all shapes and shades. Whether it’s your can’t-live-without cutoffs, a rad acid-washed jacket or neon skinnies, it’s an effortless go-to that always gets it right.

Do You Remember The First Time?

Love doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel about this Virgin Suicides-themed editorial, shot by Sofia Coppola and Corinne Day. Not only is it one of our all-time favorite movies, but their dreamy ’70s outfits and Trip Fontaine’s velvet blazers never fail to make our heart skip a beat.

Girl Gang

We’ve always gravitated to girls that won’t take no for an answer. Naturally, we’re completely obsessed with girl gangs from The Ronettes and The Shangri-las to the Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls. After a movie marathon of some of our favorite films – Cry Baby, She-Devils On Wheels, Mean Girls, and Clueless – we knew what had to be done. And thus, the concept for our latest vintage lookbook was born. Join the girl gang!

Dreaming Up Our Dream Shoes

Finding the perfect pair of shoes is like stumbling upon vintage Chanel in your granny’s attic or winning $10,000 to spend at your favorite online store – that is, to say, a very rare and beautiful thing. Tired of searching high and low for the ever elusive dream shoe, we decided that we should just start making them ourselves. To finally put an end to the hunt, we introduced our first ever collaboration with Jeffrey Campbell. Here’s a little insight into what inspired us to design the Angela, the Riot, and the Orion.

Alex, The Girl Who Knows How To Get Things Done

Thrifted bustier, Vintage DIY studded cutoffs, Jeffrey Campbell boots, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Nasty Gal Tribal Collar Necklace

Meet Alex, our Production Coordinator. She can usually be spotted running around the office with an armful of colorful fabrics, while sporting the highest platforms like no other. With an effortless ’90s rocker babe style, we’re constantly wowed by her cool looks and amazing organizational skills. Her philosophy when getting dressed – “I always find myself wearing variations of the same outfits every day. My closet staples are really soft vintage tees, cutoffs, mini skirts and big, chunky boots. I build the rest of my outfit from those pieces.”

The Story Of A Patch Of Skye

Aussie darling Skye McRae’s favorite color is rainbow. She lives by the ocean in Tamarama, Sydney, considers California her second home and loves Sunday afternoons. Skye is the voice behind the blog, A Patch Of Skye – a platform for creative escapism and, more importantly, a space where she can drift into a mystical world where she matches beautiful images with poetic poses. Her blog is a visual diary that encapsulates Skye’s inspirations: “Poetry and people’s secret thoughts are what inspire me most. Those ideas combined with soft, whimsical imagery that talks to the viewer through the emotions that they bring”.

Her creative process feels like a séance where she browses through tons of images on the hunt for that special photograph that makes her heart beat faster: “After looking at it for a while, I come up with a phrase that somehow directly links what the image says to me on a personal level and where my mind is at, at that point. When the time comes to add another image and another pose, I look at the colors of the last post, and merge the tones together, so that when put together as one, all of my images tell one story, which ultimately is the story of A Patch Of Skye”.

We leave you with one of Skye’s visual tales.
