Remember Marie Jensen? She’s the insanely stylish Danish blogger who taught us how to expertly mix new & vintage clothes. In addition to her personal style blog, she also has an impeccably curated street style blog, Nemesis, Babe Streetstyle. Over the next few weeks Marie will be chronicling all the street style at London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks for us Nasty Gals who weren’t able to hop over the pond. Read on to get inspired by what those super creative Brits are wearing!
One thing’s for sure about our latest Lookbook—shot by Jason Lee Parry—and it’s that we had as much fun behind the camera as the models did in front of it. We headed up the California coast to the iconic Madonna Inn, where we indulged in some serious glitz (glitter walls, anyone) and took some really awesome pictures while we were at it.
Our Senior Stylist Ashley Glorioso visits the Nasty Gal blogosphere once again to teach us the tricks of the Nasty Gal Collection trade. As a Professional-Outfit-Maker, Ashley always has the down low on the must have pieces of the season. She divulges how to keep it fancy, how to dress it down, and the basics of rocking some seriously cool clothes.
Vashtie Kola, aka Va$htie,
For any of you that know me, (probably a grand total of two people—my best friend and my boss), you are aware that I love Leandra Medine. So much so, that I got a little fangirl-y last night at Leandra’s book signing event at Barney’s in Los Angeles. For the last nine months, I have been patiently awaiting the arrival of Seeking Love, Finding Overalls, Leandra’s debut book, which she describes as “…a love story sprinkled over different kinds of denim.” You can only imagine how thrilled I was when I found out that she would be holding a book signing at The Grove. Sophia (#GIRLBOSS) attended the event as well, since she and Leandra are pals, and as a Professional Dream-Fulfiller (which will be added to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary in 2014 if any of you were wondering…jk) Sophia introduced me to Leandra, and then it got even better: I got to conduct a mini interview with her. Of course, I was way too indecisive in choosing what the heck to ask her in the one-and-a-half minute time slot I had, so I’m warning you the questions are a little, well, random. Regardless, I was so excited to chat with my idol about the Circus of Fashion, boogers, and Birkenstocks.
What about you? Who would bring the inner fangirl out in you? -Marissa
If you’ve turned on the radio, been to a club, or gone pretty much anywhere with music in the past few months, you’ve likely heard Icona Pop’s wildly popular single, “I Love It.” Now Aino and Caroline, the swedish duo behind Icona Pop, have turned out yet another super catchy dance tune. “All Night” delivers the same feel-good vibes as Icona Pop’s first hit, but the music video adds an entirely new dimension to the song. Taking nods from Paris Is Burning and the 80’s ballroom scene, the duo created a video that promotes freedom of expression, acceptance, and going a little crazy with friends. We chatted with Aino to hear about Icona Pop’s style, plans for the future, and groupies! Yeah, they have groupies.
