Summer’s not dead yet. Nasty Gal Photo Editor/mixtape master Cat Roif returned to her sweltering Florida roots to photograph model Samantha Vrielink in tons of comfy-cool, warm-weather ready ensembles. (See? Some of us still get to wear shorts come October.) We chatted up Cat and Samantha about their killer ’90s-inspired Miami fashion shoot, which means, yes, you get two interviews for the price of one. You’re welcome.

If you’re looking for the boldest, brightest, and most balls-out mani, we’ve got the perfect gal for you—super kawaii nail artist Britney Tokyo. One peep at her Instagram, and you’ll see she’s obsessed with everything from ’90s graphics (think: smileys and yin-yangs) to 3D gems to junk food. Last month, our resident writer/awesome person Steaktooth hit up Britney to give the whole jeweled nail art thing a try, and we needed to know more about the lady behind the designs. So, we headed out to West Hollywood to watch Britney create our dream art-history-major-meets-hippie design in real life. (And, yes, that is Frida Kahlo on top of tie-dye.)
You’re relaxing on the couch, cuddled up watching some whatever TV show, and out of nowhere your dude blurts out, “I hate girls who wear makeup.”
Waiittt for itttt…. nope! No explanation. Just back to watching TV. COOL! WTF does that mean?
The rest of the week carries on, and you do your best to brush your hair, lotion up, and leave your mascara tucked away. You don’t hear a peep from him about your looks. Cool? You’re doing good. You’ve embraced this makeup-less freedom, and it makes your mornings really easy. Plus, aside from the 10 people asking if you were sick or tired, this whole thing is starting to feel kind of good.
Then, Friday rolls around, and you’ve got plans to meet up and go out. Of course you dip back into your makeup bag, slap on a little cat eye, and run out the door. What’s the first thing you’re greeted with? “Babe! You look great!”
Commence thought process that looks like this: “…………………………………………………..”
If you have been blindsided by this, then you have two choices.
Don’t let those killer NG selfies go to waste! We’re already mega obsessed with Studio Production Assistant Linda Park’s playful style, so when sought out a DIY mastermind to take our traditional fall accessories to the next level, we knew exactly who to call. A cozy knit thigh high has always been our go-to cold weather staple, but Linda found a killer way to kick them up a notch—with embroidery! “I’ve always been into crafty things like knitting and started embroidering less than a year ago. I’m not naturally gifted in drawing or painting so embroidering is sort of my alternative to that—all you really need is patience.” We think we can manage that.

Breaking: We just found the perfect girl, you guys. Model Nadia Araujo is equal parts pretty as she is smart, and her favorite pastime includes chillin’ in her PJs watching TV. Obsessed yet? We chatted up the London-based beauty to find out even more awesomeness, like how she got her start in modeling and her favorite trends of the moment.
We’re totally stepping up our grunge game thanks to Anjelica Lorenz of Mode Junkie—and we mean that literally. She paired the Shoe Cult Vicious Chained Bootie with an oversized plaid top and loads of leather for a super fresh look we’re just dying to cop. (Blunt bangs and badass ‘tude are a total bonus.)
Real talk: Lottie Stannard is really, really good at makeup. One glance at the Nasty Gal Collection Fall 2013 lookbook, and you’ll totally understand why. She managed to amp up Ana Beatriz Barros’ (already striking!) features in the freshest way possible—with a bold berry lip and glossy smoky eye. Lucky for you (and us!), we chatted up the makeup artist to get every last detail on this super modern look.
Bring it on, cold weather. From crop top sweaters to comfy overalls to slouchy beanies, we’re totally ready
It’s pretty obvious that 17-year-old Charlie Cuscito knows a thing or two about putting an outfit together (see: photo above), but what you can’t see is that she’s also linked to one of the biggest icons in the fashion industry, Anna Dello Russo. The Vogue Japan editor-at-large also doubles as Charlie’s aunt (so cool!) and her eye for on-point ensembles is paving the way for Charlie’s future in fashion. (She also hopes to attend the London Academy of Dramatic and Music Arts one day, NBD.) As she finishes up her last year of high school, we asked Charlie to give us a snapshot of what it’s like living in her hometown of Bari, Italy—and from the looks of it, it seems pretty dang awesome. Check out how Charlie mixed her all-black aesthetic and breezy Italian ‘tude in our Nasty Gal Collection Fall 2013 below. Bonus? That gorge Southern Italy coast as her backdrop.
