Cailin Hill & Ioanna Gika’s Adventure In Tokyo

_MG_8114

Sometimes you just need to pack your bags, hop on a plane and travel across the world with your two BFFs, and, well, that’s exactly what we did. The Model Burnbook’s Cailin Hill and IO Echo’s Ioanna Gika met us in Japan for a super kawaii adventure that included a trip to Hanayashiki—the oldest amusement park in Tokyo—and a tschotske-filled foray through some tiny temples. Check out some of our favorite snaps below!

Ingredients For A Festival

festival

Ah, music festivals. We live for the adrenaline-filled three day weekend of non-stop music, dancing, and BFF hangs, but—we have to be real—it’s not all pretty flower crowns and perfect beachy waves. There’s a large (see: 100%) chance that you’ll be the sweatiest, dirtiest, and thirstiest you’ve been in your entire life, but, hey, in the end it’s all worth it. So, in the spirit of festival season, we compiled a (semi-realistic) list of ingredients for the perfect festival—complete with blisters and all.

#MusicMonday: Southern Rap

Every Monday we send you a killer playlist straight from NGHQ!

“Move over Yeezus. From Cashville to ATL to the 305, the dirty South is full of some serious rap gods. You can dance to Southern hip-hop with your gals, turn it up in your ride, or, what the hell, even listen to it while you’re brushing your teeth, so feel free to rock some overalls and a crop top with this finger lickin’-good playlist. Now hurry up with my damn biscuits.”

The Best Festival Hair With Lou Teasdale

lou-teasdale

Not everyone can call themselves a “rock ‘n’ roll groomer,” but London-based beauty expert Lou Teasdale totally fits the bill. She kicked off her career as a hair assistant on The X Factor back in 2007, and today she styles the now-infamous boy band coifs of One Direction. An avid festival-goer herself, we thought she’d be the perfect person to gives us some insight on how to style our strands without a lot of product, tools, and, um, shower time. (Not to mention she’s releasing a “creative bible” on DIY hair and beauty called The Craft come April!) Here, Lou shows us how to conquer a 3-day sweatfest in style and—remember, ladies—“baby wipes and dry shampoo are your friends.”

I Love You Magazine

iloveyoumagazine-7

Berlin-based I Love You magazine started life as a fashionable blog, but its print reincarnation has but all the style and substance of the most well-respected glossy. Thematically tackling life’s big topics–diet, ego, motherhood–in a smart, aesthetically pleasing way, I Love You offers a refreshing alternative to the clichéd editorial that still dominates newsstands. Phoebe Lovatt spoke to Editor-in-Chief Christiane Boerdner to find out how she goes about creating “the type of magazine that women love and at the same time a magazine that loves women.”

Nadine Leopold

It’s OK to admit you’ve fallen for the freckle-faced blondie from our Festival Shop lookbook. Model Nadine Leopold not only makes us super stoked for the summery days ahead, but she also shares our obsession with Mean Girls, Drake, and Stevie Nicks. (Swoon!) Find out more about this festival babe in our Nasty Gal-approved survey below.

#MusicMonday: Ultimate Karaoke Playlist

gif-for-music

Every Monday we send you a killer playlist straight from NGHQ!

“There’s no denying everyone who’s anyone (in my book) loves a good night of karaoke. (Double points if you and your pals are into duets, trios, or—even better—boy band tributes.) Even my shyest of friends have fallen victim to that glitter-strewn, dive-bar stage at 2 a.m.—microphones and beers in hand. But sometimes even the most avid karaoke-goers are capable of experiencing song-choice anxiety, so I’ve made a playlist that can help alleviate all your karaoke stresses. Get ready to feel inspired with an arsenal of jams to sing/scream/dance/make a fool of yourself to. No thanks needed.”
