Our Junior Fashion Copywriter Remy Ramirez shares her experience at the first-ever Coachella back in 1999, where she swiped up her $50 tickets at a Virgin Records store in Hollywood and survived the desert heat in mid-October.
I Christened Coachella. No seriously, I did. I was the first 18-year-old girl to wear a vintage bikini top, cutoffs, and cowboy hat to the desert—and to roll so hard I’d end up sitting on the grass with two dudes, rubbing their hairy calves euphorically while the headliner’s muffled scream-singing droned somewhere on the other side of a mega-crowd. It went a little something like this.
