Are you mildly addicted to nail foil as of late? Well sista, you’re in luck, the fun doesn’t have to end at your hands thanks to our new super cool Lip Rock lip foil. Nasty Gal’s Makeup Artist In Chief, Stacey Nishimoto, shows us the ropes of the addictive lip accessory. Best of all, you can glam it up on the go. Stacey filled us in… “Just like instant noodles, you can look instantly hot. Now you can have true metallic lips in two minutes – SO MUCH FUN!”

Prime Time

We love Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer so much that we’re giving it away as a limited-time gift with purchase!* And though we’ve all heard how great it is to use a primer, it can still be kind of tricky to nail down what exactly it does and how to use it. So we tapped Lori Taylor, Global Pro Lead Artist at Smashbox, to give us the priming basics. Smooth, silky skin, here we come!

With Lime Crime Zodiac Glitter

Lime Crime’s Zodiac Glitter is one of those multipurpose beauty products that reinforces our belief that a little sparkle makes everything better. Our makeup artist Stacey Nishimoto used it to create a couple of different eye makeup looks that are subtle enough to wear anywhere—and not just the Electric Daisy Carnival. “Now you can wear glitter to Trader Joe’s or Starbucks!” Stacey says. “A touch of sparkle on your lids can be as subtle as the bling on your French manicure. Think of glitter as the fragrance you put on before you leave the house—it’s the last finishing touch. All you need is a spritz or a dab.”

The Baby Bun

If you’ve ever tried to find a middle ground between a full bun and letting your hair fall naturally, look no further. We got Ashlee Rose to walk us through creating The Baby Bun. It’s a sort of sleek, sort of messy hairdo that’s still subtle, but done-up enough to show that hey, you did put some effort in today.

For Chanel’s 2014 Resort show in Singapore, makeup artist Peter Phillips created this two-toned black and turquoise cat-eye that, in our minds, evoked equal parts hell-raising pirate and tranquil turquoise seas. We thought it was the perfect punk-yet-still-pretty look for summer, so we got our own makeup artist, Stacey Nishimoto, to recreate it on Sophia. According to Stacey, the end goal is a clean top, and blended bottom—an architectural black line softened by a blue haze. Here are her steps!

Bathing Beauties

We’re not really the full-layer-of-makeup-on-the-beach type, but we can still admit that getting that perfect beach babe look isn’t as easy—or nearly as effortless—as it seems. Dewy (but not greasy) skin, salty (but not briny) hair and the ever-prescient threat of sunburn—the whole thing’s a bit precarious. And while our newly in-stock collection of bright zinc sunblock can spare you from the latter, we had to call in the big guns, that’s Bumble and bumble’s Jordan M, to tell us a thing or two about perfect beach hair. We grabbed photographer Brandon Harman and fav Kiwi blogger Ponyhunter and hop, skip, jumped over to Santa Monica to show you what’s what. All together, we’ve got you covered, whether you’ve spent the day surfing the waves… or the Internet.

Pile It On with Senior Stylist Ashley!

final

We think our Senior Stylist Ashley is pretty fly—she can style you up, down and sideways in a flash! Yes, she can do it all, but she’s especially adept in the realm of more-is-more jewelry. Truth be told, we could use some pointers, so of course we asked her to demonstrate her special magic and spill her jewelry dos and don’ts while she’s at it!

You’ve all been officially invited to the Anti-Prom, and now that you have the coolest dress ever, it’s time to call in the big guns. Lucy Bridge, the London-based makeup guru that left us Glazed And Confused in the latest issue of SUPER NASTY, is here to save you from any beauty disasters with a few tips to ensure you’re giving great face on your big night. So get ready to rule the school with electric pops of color and enough glitter to make any wannabe prom queen jealous.

Space Age Desert Eyes

If there’s one thing we love here at Nasty Gal, it’s an excuse to cover our face in glitter. A trip to the grocery store? Sure. An oil change? Totally. A day at in the sun at a summer festival? Well, this one’s a no-brainer.

So, to kick off our season in the sonic fields, we’ve concocted one hell of an eye look. We’re not talking glitter eyeliner or some shadow with sheen, but honest to dog glitter glued to your eyelids. Don’t be shy—we certainly never are!

Our out-of-this-world video directors at Knockout Pictures broke it all down into easy-peasy steps, but our in-house makeup master Stacey Nishimoto’s got more than a little advice on how to really master this look. Below, the exclusive unabridged version, straight from the source!

Knotty By Nature – A Festival Braid Guide

When we were kids, our copy of Braids and Bows ended up in the garbage—a combination of our hatred of ribbons and our boiling frustration over our utter lack of ability. These days, we’re willing to give these pretty little plaits another try. Not only have braids evolved into a cool, intergalactic art form since our embarrassing class photo days, but they also serve a real and breezy function come festival season.

To get us ready for that extreme desert heat—and stand out in a sea of coif crowns—we turned to our nearest braid babe, Alison Brislin, who cooked up this sorta sleek, sorta spacey look special for us.
