NYFW Day 5

NYFW Street Style Day 5

The East Coast Nasty Gals (and guys) have been repping full force for NYFW, whether under the tents or striking a pose on the concrete runway. Clearly, we can’t get enough—especially of three guys in Mort hats.

The Cult Takes NYFW

KateOwen_NastyGal-NYFW_Day1_09

This week, Shoe Cult is rising and raging in NYC. We held an open call model casting in Washington Square Park, swarmed the city with a few surprise gift card giveaways, and hit up a few fashion week parties to capture the stylish throngs. We’re here all week folks (literally), so this is the first of many dispatches you can expect as we recruit Cult members everywhere we go.

When In Rome

If there’s one thing that has stayed around longer than anyone expected, it’s the gladiator sandal—because they’ve been around since, um, ancient Rome? But rather than being geared up for cage fights, now they’re adorned in jewels and studs, and crafted in suede, metallics and even rubber. They’re also scaling new heights, with heels and straps that reach for your knees.

Leather Weather

Once synonymous with cold days and biker bars, leather has come a long way in terms of wearability. Its new interpretation is sleek, minimal, and bares a look that puts cotton to sartorial shame. The best part about leather? It can be used for everything now: pants, shirts, even the coveted crop top. If you haven’t already, take a walk on the wild side. It’s leather weather! (And hint, hint: A little faux never hurts, either.)

The midriff-baring crop top is our favorite summer staple and there are seemingly infinite ways to wear it. It’s a go-to when you want to channel Kelly Bundy or just reveal a classy sliver of skin, and it looks equally good worn with shorts, a skirt or the perfect pair of ovies. So crop it right now!

Whether you’re watching the fireworks or igniting some of your own, celebrate the Fourth of July with red, white and blue, bad behavior, and a hefty dose of Betsey Ross-inspired prints.

Nothing To Hide

We’re seeing right through this latest trend, and totally loving it. Once relegated to toddler’s jelly sandals and stripper heels, lucite and clear plastic are now showing up in tons of unexpected and sophisticated ways. Our favorites are shoes that make it look like you’re walking on air, and cuff bracelets and bags that inspire an instant double take. Plus, we can’t help but think that a clear bag is actually pretty practical, as you’ll finally be forced to go minimal and keep your bag from, you know, filling up with useless crap.
