LOVE 17

Monday, June 11, 2012 Studio Soundtracks: Pump Up The Volume

By now, you’ve probably noticed our undying love for all things rock. Sorry Stevie, but this week we’re swapping our fringe kimono for cutoffs, platform sneakers and hoops. It’s time to turn up the volume and blast some jams that are impossible not to dance to, from Neneh Cherry’s old school rhymes to Die Antwoord’s latest track.

“Baby’s On Fire” by Die Antwoord

“I’m pretty stoked about Die Antwoord’s new video, “Baby’s On Fire”. Not only is the styling totally weird and cool (as always), but Yolandi Visser is rocking the Smiley Cutoffs from our latest lookbook! Oh yeah, the song’s pretty rad too.”

“Buffalo Stance” by Neneh Cherry

“Neneh Cherry was definitely an inspiration in our latest vintage lookbook. She knew how to rock crazy prints like no other. Her style and music was always funky, fresh, and ready to party! I’m still kicking myself for not snagging a rare Neneh Cherry tour tee I spotted at the flea market this past weekend.”

“(Bitch I) Feel Good” by Chip Tha Ripper

“Devyn got us hooked on this jam a while back, and now we probably blast it at least once a day. There’s nothing I’d rather listen to while I am soaking up some LA sun by the pool this summer.”

“Jane Fonda” by Mickey Avalon

“Our Fashion Content Editor, Rosa, showed up wearing a (limited) Mickey Avalon Tee from ’06 today, which naturally led to an all-morning Mickey Avalon dance parties with Ashley. What the hell ever happened to this guy?”

“Tonight…Crazy Night” by Dorine Hollier

“Since no Nasty Gal playlist would be complete without a disco track thrown in, here’s a favorite of Sophia’s, who makes one of the best dance partners ever! Anyway, she introduced me to this disco classic and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since!”
