Working for the Weekend

I only get sick about once a year, but when it hits, it hits hard. And this week, unfortunately, it’s been germs 1, me 0. But I plan on kicking the sick soon—very soon—because this is a pretty big weekend. Nasty Gal is being featured in the WSJ magazine, which hits newsstands today, but I’ve also got a music festival to attend. Super important things happening here, people.

Wouldn’t miss it for the world: I’ll probably spend most of my weekend at FYF Fest, and definitely what I am most looking forward to seeing is the man, the myth, the legend—Roky Erickson. He’s a psych rock pioneer, and has just started touring again after years, so seeing him play here might be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

It’s Alive!: We launched Shoe Cult this past week, and celebrated in part by plastering our name all over NYC. One of my favorite aspects of this collection is that it includes a shoe for every occasion, from party platforms to hell-raising boots. This weekend, I’ll be kicking my way to the front of the crowd in the Renegade Boot, and toting the Cruise Control Bucket Bag in red, which is bright enough to stand out in a sea of people.

Gal Talk: So this happened last week, but I met up with I’m Boy Crazy’s Alexi Wasser for an upcoming episode of her talk show. Talk about a girl after my own heart. She’s also after my dog, and we decided that we should probably just be best friends.

Oh, NBD: Just jamming out at Terry Richardson’s birthday party (he shot the very first Nasty Gal Collection lookbook) with Jim Carrey on back-up vocals. Take it from me, kids—real life is weird.

xoxo, Sophia
