Tuesday, July 23, 2013 Guest Edit: Introducing Steak Anderson

Oh, hey: Meet Rachael Finley, aka, Steaktooth. We like her style, her sense of humor, and how she spends her free time (making lists and drinking wine), so we tapped her to be our newest guest blogger. This is her first dispatch.

See, I’m new here. And while I have no doubt in my mind that pretty soon we’re all going to be vibing really well, first posts are scary. First anythings are scary, but we can get to that in a month or something. I was kind of struggling between a good intro about who I “am” or defaulting to my norm of making a bunch of cool lists or tiptoeing around, in, and directly on the nose of painfully awkward issues that happen over on my other blog. And that’s when this happened:

Tuesday, October 2, 2012 A Week With: Madison, Our Vintage-Obsessed Junior Copywriter

Vintage maxi dress and belt, Bracelet from a street vendor in Mexico

With a closet bursting with flea market treasures that range from dreamy bohemian maxis to vibrant vintage prints, our Junior Copywriter Madison never fails to make heads turn as she breezes through the office. Though she describes her style as “a bit schizo” depending her mood each morning, her eternal influences are Bianca Jagger, Uschi Obermaier, Joni Mitchell, and old photos of her mom from the ’80s in skin-tight metallic jeans, structured blazers, and armfuls of bangles. Here’s a glimpse of some of the pieces she can’t live without and her eclectic Echo Park pad.

“It was love at first sight when I spotted this dress at my favorite LA vintage shop, Squaresville. The ’70s housewife vibes make it perfect for hosting friends for brunch or a dinner party.”

Vintage Valentino leather top, Nasty Gal shorts, Vintage cuff

“I feel like I practically stole this Valentino top from Goodwill. Vintage lasercut leather with epic structured shoulders for $14.99? I mean…”

Vintage tee and cuff, Trimmed Tux Vest, Nasty Gal shorts, Avalos Platform Boot

“I’ve been throwing this tux vest on with pretty much everything lately. It adds a little polish without trying too hard.”

Vintage silk blouse and ring, Mara Hoffman Beaded Sequin Pants, Aldo heels

“I love these pants because the sequins and beading add some ’80s flair to the classic black trouser. They were born to go straight from the office to happy hour.”

“Bob Dylan is my everything.”

Nasty Gal maxi dress

“One of my forever favorite dresses is my very first Nasty Gal purchase from about three years ago. I love wearing all white, and any of my friends can tell you how I feel about maxis. This one is perfect for everything from thrifting to a house party.”

Nasty Gal jumpsuit, Vintage cuff

“Lately I’ve been into graphic black and white prints, which isn’t usually my speed but since I dyed my hair dark AND cut bangs, I’ve been feeling more adventurous. This jumpsuit is awesome because it has a high neckline (which I’m obsessed with for Fall) and it’s a cool option when you don’t feel like wearing a dress.”
