Olivia O’Brien’s just singing it like it is.
Newcomer Olivia O’Brien wrote “Hate U Love U” when she was 15, essentially reminding the pop world that age ain’t nothing but a number. The Napa native’s career kicked off shortly after posting a Gnash cover on Soundcloud. The artist took notice and soon enough they were collaborating on her first huge hit. “I wrote this song about a boy from my high school. I was crushed when he started dating another girl, but now I can’t even remember the last time that I thought about him,” she muses. “I still find myself relating to the song, however, particularly in new situations in my life and with new people. I’m so excited to finally be able to share my original version with everyone.” With her already chart-topping track record, it’s clear that Olivia’s in for a wild 2017.
