Anti-Prom Queens

Whether your prom is just a heartbeat away or you’re still recovering from this infamous night, Nick’s latest soundtrack will put you in the right mood to party hard or reminisce about your high school crush. Just lace up your Litas and dance to some glittery beats with new indie darlings, Puro Instinct, and the ultimate punk rock queen, Siouxsie.

“Silky Eyes” by Puro Instinct

“I’m pretty obsessed with all that is Puro Instinct right now. Their melodies may be sweet, but this duo has all the cool factor you could ever ask for. Not only are they one of my favorite bands right now, but they also run one of my favorite music blogs. I love that they’re influenced by everything from Italo Disco, to punk rock, to LA billboard queen, Angelyne!”

“Celebrity Skin” by Hole

“There is just no denying that Hole’s work in the Nineties was bad ass! Courtney Love – love her or hate her – is the perfect example on how to turn a frilly frock into the ultimate rocker chic look.”

“Cyan” by Kindness

“This video features everything we love…dudes with long hair, disposable cameras, and getting lost in the city. This is a happy little ditty with a smooth bass line that’s as easy to trot along with as it is to walk in a pair of Litas.”

“Kiss Them For Me” by Siouxsie & the Banshees

“A Nineties ode to old school Hollywood bombshell, Jayne Mansfield, “Kiss Them For Me” has long been one of my favorite songs. There are few artists who experimented with sounds the way The Banshees did, and this has to be one of their best. If you look up some old school Siouxsie images, it might just give you some inspiration on how to rock silver crosses and spikes.”

“Faces” by Clio

“Alright, this is a classic Italo song from 1985 that got an awesome remake a year or two ago by Electric Youth. However, like everything else, nothing is as good as the original. The glittering synths make this one of my favorite things to listen to when I am getting ready for my day.”
