Friday, April 6, 2012 Sophia’s Corner: Movin’ On Up
It’s been a long road since leaving eBay cold-turkey to launch the Nasty Gal website in 2008. At that time, I was the only employee and was still steaming, shipping, styling — you name it…everything. I designed the first version of the Nasty Gal website (the first and only website I’ve designed to date), as well as the first-ever Nasty Gal blog. See that face up in the right hand corner? That’s Dee. Dee modeled for me on eBay as a teenager, then grew up, went to fashion school, and is now here in LA working in our super-new, super-exciting Design Department. That’s right. Nasty Gal will be launching our very own collection later this year! But back to the blog. Don’t want to overshadow how exciting today’s launch of the new blog is.
We’ve always wanted more ways to talk to and interact with the Nasty Gal girl. The new blog is the first of many exciting things to come that will allow us to party (hard) on the internet with you. I’m so grateful to our incredible Creative Team who spent countless hours kerning characters and aligning margins to make this blog launch a reality. To celebrate, we’ll be throwing a monster bash at Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel later this month, so stay tuned for details!
So what can you expect to see on the new blog? Well, for one: SO MUCH MORE. We’ll be filling you in with behind-the-scenes goodies, interviews, videos, lookbooks, and all kinds of awesome exclusive content. I’ll be posting here, in my “corner”, with stuff I’m into, stuff I’m wearing, and general inspirational goodness.

Sophia started Nasty Gal out of her bedroom in 2006. She enjoys a a good Salade Niçoise, a sturdy pair of platforms, and occasionally twirling around the studio while blasting disco.
