We Went to Camp Flog Gnaw at Dodger Stadium

A kickass lineup, carnival rides, and one pretty cool reusable cup program.

This past weekend, I threw on my fave nasty gal pants and headed out to Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw. I’d been looking forward to this lineup for months–Lauryn Hill, Kali Uchis, Jorja Smith, Little Dragon, Jaden Smith, A$AP Rocky, Tyler (of course) and so so many more! The festival was full of teens and twenty-somethings hopping from stage to stage and screaming their voices away on carnival rides.

What in the Check Pants, Lets Turn Up Neon Sweater

It was held at LA’s Dodger Stadium for the first time this year, creating a huge playground for the festivities and an amazing view of Los Angeles from the festival’s famous Ferris wheel.

Aside from seeing LAURYN HILL live for the first time and watching Kanye dance his ass off in a suspended crate, one of the things I loved most at the festival was Goldenvoice’s test run of a new company called r.Cup.

r.Cup creates reusable souvenir cups for festivals to help reduce waste, with a $3 deposit and cash refund program that encourages you to hold on to your damn cup. Sweet, right? It totally worked on me, I kept my cup all night Saturday and took it home on Sunday with the thought that it would be a pretty sweet (and cheap) way to remember my time at the festival. It was kind of surreal to be among 50,000+ people and see literally no plastic cups on the ground.

2nd fave thing: being able to wear turtleneck sweaters and flex my “winter” fashion in Los Angeles, given that festivals usually fall in the spring/summer seasons. These are only a few of the many things I loved about this festival. The list could literally go on for a while, so I’ll just keep it short. Safe to say, I’d def go to Flog Gnaw again next year! Tysm Tyler.
