This DNB remix of Run This World by female DJ Producer @andilemusic is so 🔥🔥🔥...and was also premiered last week on @nesthq //We started our label #getshookmusic because we were sick of seeing how so many of our female DJ producer friends weren't being supported by any labels(which is also the main reason why female Djs make up such a small percentage at festivals) and many of them had had similar experiences that we had:: walk into a label meeting, you discuss the strategy f...or the song they're all into it, often times get sexually harassed or demeaned, and then their lawyers just never send the paper work back for the track, they ghost. Pretty weird and frightening that we all had experienced the exact same thing--fuck that. We are here to support women in the industry who work hard and make good music, it's as simple as that. The last label head we were going to sign with asked us openly in a meeting w the entire label present what our remix package plan was and then said " well, you're girls so ya know all you have to do is" and then he winked and smiled and laughed...funny because that song ended up getting licensed to a video game and they lost out on a lot of money that we kept instead lol...not a lot of women talk openly about this bullshit but we have to! Somehow we think keeping quiet about this misogynistic behavior will help our careers move along but it doesn't! It just enables shitty behavior and worst of all makes it harder for all women in the biz just trying to put out music and share their art with their fans. We have to start pushing forward whilst calling bullshit and working together to do business the right way. That's the only way things will change #getshookmusic #womensrebellion #newmusic #newmusicalert #drumandbass #dablife #dab
Taking aim at an event packed with girls, young women, and queer people is a particular strain of insidiousness.
